Communities · what you get

You bringthe food.

A community arrives with food, people and a programme, and finds the rest of it standing. One production package covers the whole pavilion village.

What the festival carries.

  1. The ground and the permissions

The City special event permit, the National Capital Commission's permission for federal land, the site plan, the fire and emergency plans. Filed, paid for and carried by the festival.

  2. The tent and everything under it

Tents, tables, chairs, fencing and power distribution as one package. A community operator books none of it and receives no invoice for it.

  3. Power and water

Distribution across the village, with bottled water supplied centrally.

  4. The stage and the music licence

A built stage with sound and an engineer, and the SOCAN and Re:Sound licence for both days paid centrally.

  5. Safety and the perimeter

Licensed security, police and paramedics as the City requires, and the insurance the City and the National Capital Commission require of the event itself.

  6. The crowd

Free entry, a festival passport that sends visitors from pavilion to pavilion, and the whole promotion of the weekend.

  7. A person at the other end of the phone

A named coordinator from the day you are accepted to the day the site clears, one operations manual, and a radio channel over the weekend.

  8. Training, free

Briefings for your coordinator and your crew on the site, safety, accessibility and the incident ladder.

The festival earns from the commercial vendors it invites, from craft pitches and power, from grants and sponsors. Your kitchen sits outside all of it.

Questions.

Who pays if it rains?

The festival carries the site and the structures in any weather. Your costs are your food and your crew's time; plan your stock the way any outdoor kitchen does.

Do we have to sell anything?

No. Some pavilions will sell food; one can also run on the exhibition and the programme alone. Every pavilion serves one small tasting portion.

What does the festival get out of us?

A field that is worth crossing the city for. Communities are the festival; the package above exists so that they can be.

The September weekend is set with the permits. The mailing list hears it the same day, before anybody else.
