The festival · first edition

September2027.

A change of dates.

7–8 August 2027September 2027exact dates to be confirmed

The first Capital Cultures festival moves from Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 August 2027 to a weekend in September 2027. The exact dates will be posted on this page and sent to the mailing list as soon as they are set.

If 7–8 August 2027 is in your calendar, you can clear it. The calendar file on this site now marks the August event as cancelled. Some calendar apps remove it when you open save-the-date.ics again; in the others, delete the event by hand. A new date goes into that file on the day the weekend is fixed.

What stays the same.

  1. Free entry

At the gate, both days, for everybody. The festival passport is a free souvenir and opens nothing.

  2. Two days on one site

A Saturday and a Sunday in Ottawa, each with at least five hours of programme.

  3. Community pavilions

Each community runs its own pavilion and keeps what its counter takes; the pavilion fee is $0. The working budget carries 10 pavilions, and 14 if the funding threshold is cleared.

  4. One answering standard

A person answers every application and every message within ten working days.

Where, and when exactly.

A festival on public land in Ottawa needs two permissions: the City of Ottawa's special event permit and, on federal land, the National Capital Commission's. The weekend and the site are fixed together with them.

The August plan named LeBreton Flats Park, the National Capital Commission's park west of downtown. The September site is confirmed with the permits and published here on the same day.
